What happens during couples counseling?
In the first session, an assessment is conducted, and if possible, we jointly set the goals of the counseling. Usually, two individual sessions follow, which serve to get to know and understand both partners better. Afterwards, joint couples sessions take place, although individual sessions may repeatedly be necessary. The sessions are accompanied by coaching on my part to learn better communication tactics, resolve emotional blockages, redesign outdated thinking patterns, and facilitate learning processes. I predominantly work with client-centered conversations based on the assumption that the client holds all the resources for self-actualization within themselves. Additionally, I use systemic coaching methods, such as role plays and family constellations. Online counseling is conducted in the same way.
